My Thematic Plan is going to be diversity! I have been blessed with a very diverse upbringing that has made me the person I am today! My hope is to see more awareness of diversity throughout my teaching career :)
Teresa, I am so interested and intrigued by diversity and as I mentioned have been raised in two very different types of ethnic communities. One was Hudson, WI which really had little to no diversity at all, that was up until I was in 6th grade. I then moved to Philadelphia, PA and my world changed drastically (in a very good way) my eyes were suddenly open to different races, cultures, and a way of interacting with those with a different ethnicity than myself.
Thank you for sharing! This history will empower you as a teacher and bring much depth, understanding and empathy. Thank you for joining our profession. It is one that I am very proud of and will be proud to call you colleague.
